“The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.””

Sometimes we have to play our part. We might not understand what God is asking of us, we might not enjoy our circumstances, we might not feel like forgiving or loving or going the extra mile… But sometimes we have to get on with it and obey.
And when we obey sometimes that's the very thing that unlocks the promise. Notice that the promise has expanded too. Now not only will Abraham's offspring match the stars and the sand in number but they will be successful and they in turn will be a blessing to the whole world. The promise has expanded and developed. Why? "Because you have obeyed me."
Obey. It's the obvious thing to do. It makes God happy. And you never know, your promise might get upgraded!
